Hooray! We opened! It was fun, and not too stressful, and what's more, I think I can actually do this for a living.
I'm tired tonight, so this will be a short post, but here's a run-down of my day: I got into the office around 2:00pm (I know, it's a rough life I lead) to check in with Teresa. We went downstairs to the theater to get ready for the 2:30 invited dress, which followed an earlier run. Which at 2:30 was not yet over. Typical. Nothing in the theater seems capable of being on time. Fortunately we had enough time to do a full dress rehearsal, since there was an invited audience. I was particularly glad of that, since it was probably the only time that I'll get to see the show. I really enjoyed it, though it was certainly still a little rough. It's actually a really nice format, having 8 different 10 (-ish) minute plays. You get a nice taste and then you move on. By the time the dress rehearsal was done, it was time to get ready for the opening performance. Typically I won't have to worry about so much preparation, but since it was not only my first time, but also the House Manager and Box Office staffer's first time, we wanted to make sure that we covered all of our bases. We got the house opened on time, and everything seemed to go pretty well. We started a little late, and the show has been running a little long, so I didn't end up leaving until around 10:00. Typically I won't have to stay for more than a half-hour after the show gets started, just to make sure things are ok and write up a company management report. Tonight I stayed until the end just to cover my bases and to confer with Teresa and Jamie about how things went.
I think this will be a fun gig for the next six weeks. The everyone is really nice and welcoming, and I really enjoy being at work. But now I must go to bed - I'm going house-hunting with Dan and Anna Li tomorrow!
Goodnight, dear friends!
