Today marked a small but important milestone for me: the final performance of 10 x 25 Series A. Ok, yes, there were only 14 performances over 2 weeks, but still! We're in tech on Tuesday, and open Series B on Wednesday evening. The funny thing is, Series A was the longest run of a show that I've ever worked on, but it is amazingly puny in professional theater. It really puts my experience thus far into perspective.
Today was pretty good. I stayed for the entire performance because we had a small champagne toast following the show for the cast and crew. A nice little way to have a bit of closure on the Series. Before I got to the show I stopped for lunch at Grey Dog, a little restaurant on W. 16th between 7th and 8th. I had a delicious turkey and green apple sandwich with brie and raspberry mustard on challah, with a large raspberry lemonade that had actual raspberries in it! Delicious. After the show I was thinking of heading over to check out the Fleet Week festivities, but my feet hurt so much after yesterday that I just hobbled home. I think I needed an evening in. Besides, there's s Star Trek movie marathon on SyFy tonight! what more could you ask for?
I had a singularly disappointing dinner alone this evening. And the dinner was not disappointing because it was alone. I actually have no problem eating by myself if I need to. No, I had it in my head that Tutta Pasta on the corner of 2nd and Washington, literally a short block away from Matt's, was a good Italian restaurant. I was incorrect. It was overpriced, and extremely average food. I would not be surprised at all if the ravioli were originally frozen. Also, they put chocolate sauce on their tiramisu. I judge places that do that. Tiramisu does not require chocolate sauce. In fact, it has to be incredibly excellent tiramisu to still be good after the application of chocolate sauce. I fancy myself a connoisseur of tiramisu (or at least I'm trying to become one), and chocolate sauce offends my sensibilities on this most perfect of desserts.
After dinner, even though my feet ache like the Dickens (an expression I've never entirely understood), I decided to walk over to the riverfront. It was a gorgeous night, the city looked spectacular, and there's just something about being near a large body of water that I find incredibly relaxing.
So, in the interesting news section, there are some new leads on the housing search. Apparently Nick, Olivia, and Aaron have run into some trouble with the apartment they were supposed to move into in a day or so, and are quite possibly back on the market. While this is bad news for them, it could be great news for me! We are actually looking at a 3 bedroom apartment for the 4 of us to share tomorrow morning! It's possible that their original situation will work itself out, in which case it will be back to finding some randos to live with. But it's also possible that we'll all get to live together! I would love that. So we'll have to see.
Well folks, that's all for now. Happy Memorial Day!
