Back in Action!

Did you miss me? Sorry it's been a while since I've updated last, but it's been pretty crazy. Last we spoke, I was getting ready to head down to Maryland for my cousin Adam's graduation party. I hopped a 3:00pm Acela Express down south, but unlike my original plan of getting off in DC and having my parents drive me to Glenwood, I actually got off at BWI Airport where my cousin Oliver picked me up. It was nice to spend some one-on-one time with Oliver, since we don't often have a chance to talk, even though it was only a short ride.

The party and all the festivities around it were quite fun, and filled with excessive amounts of food (I have it on good authority that nearly 200 hot dogs were consumed in a single afternoon). It was good to see my extended family, many of whom I haven't seen since Christmas. We really don't get together enough anymore, since we're all so busy, and the connecting force that was my dad's parents is no longer with us. :-(

Anyway, on Friday night I went with three of my cousins and my sister to ShadowLand. I know, I know. That sounds incredibly lame. But in actuality it was the most excellent laser tag set up I've ever seen. Two stories, with ramps and mazes and crow's nests, and a capacity of nearly 40 people made it pretty darn close to urban warfare (except without any killing, naturally. Though my sister did come close to killing this little kid that wouldn't stop bugging her). We played two games, one with a huge group of about 30 people, and the second just the 5 of us since everyone else left. I've never done a free-for-all laser tag game before, but it was just as fun as it sounded.

Man, I sound lame, don't I? I'll have to work on that.

As quickly as the weekend came, that's how quickly it was over. Before I knew it I was bidding my family farewell and hopping back on the (non-express, much slower and noisier) train back to NYC.

Yesterday was a rough day at work. I didn't do very much, but with my boss Aaron out on Mondays while shows are running, it was left to me to do the wrap reports on my own. In case you don't already know (and I can't think why you might) the wrap reports are basically a daily reckoning of the previous day's financial performance at each show. A very comprehensive reckoning. Unfortunately, I didn't quite understand it as well as I thought I had on Friday, and what normally takes Aaron about 25 minutes took me about 5 hours. But! I did everything right. So my exceptionally slow pace paid off, and I now think I could do it much faster. Today I worked Aaron's show shift (noon-8-ish) so that I could be trained at tonight's show to be a house manager, since I'll be filling that role tomorrow at the Stage 2 matinee for Dusk Rings a Bell. The good thing about that is that I'll be getting paid to house manage. The bad thing is that it meant I had to miss out on dinner a second time with my Aunt Kim. We'll try again next week!

Anyway, that's more less what you missed. It occurs to me that this blog is becoming nothing more than a several-times-per-week recount of what I've done, and that's not too interesting. I might dabble in the near future with actually posting some of my musings here. We'll see.

Cheers!
