Bad at Mornings

I've realized something about myself. I'm really terrible at getting up in the morning. Getting out of bed is literally the hardest thing I do in a day sometimes. Isn't that kind of pathetic? I can't decide if that means that my life is too easy, if I'm just lazy, or both.

I've always been terribly envious of those "morning people" who leap out of bed before dawn feeling fully refreshed, ready to start their day with vigor. Some of them even do it with little to no sleep the night before, which I think is distinctly unfair. At least part of the reason that I can't get up easily in the morning has to do with the fact that I've usually gone to sleep less than 7 hours before I'm meant to wake up (I know, I know, I should be getting at least 8 hours a night. Tell that to my professors who insist on having 3 hour night classes and assigning busy work to grad students). What really gets me is the people who can basically let themselves be horizontal with their eyes closed for all of 4 minutes and they're ready to go for the day.

Unfortunately for me, this is a battle that I cannot win. I must either get up on time, or be late to or miss things. Sometimes the latter is a very attractive option.

Anyway, I doubt anyone still reads this, so I guess this post is more for me vent a little than to actually edify the public, but there you have it.

  1. I'm still reading this! And I concur...morning people should be outlawed. There should be no reason why anyone should be up before noon!
